ABOUT

Dr. Michael Vincent

Michael Vincent grew up in Louisiana in a household that valued God, family, and service to the community. He is an 11th generation Louisianan. While growing up, he was taught the value of respect and hard work.

Those values translated into the classroom as well, where he attended graduate school at LSU and obtained his Ph.D. in Chemistry. While there, Michael served as a teaching assistant and taught general chemistry laboratory courses. He has worked as a scientist and, with his lifelong commitment to education, will bring that same passion and commitment to the East Baton Rouge School Board.

Michael has personally experienced what education can do in a person's life by becoming the first person in his family to obtain a Ph.D. He believes in a common sense approach to problem solving, which has served him well in his career as a scientist.

He believes that students deserve access to a high-quality education and dedicated teachers, all in a safe environment. His experience working complex, challenging problems and communicating across diverse groups lends naturally to his commitment to serving the community. Michael believes in accountability and responsible stewardship of public resources as a public servant, and is committed to serving parents, teachers, students, and other community members to help build successful schools where children have the opportunity to succeed.
